Our Feelings: Sanctuary

Sector #816 previously known as Daytona Beach before the Fall…
…is a fucking dump. Guys, seriously, this place makes my skin crawl from how dirty I’ve imagined it being. Think of a cesspool…and then there’s not enough shit in the cesspool. WELCOME TO SANCTUARY!! This place isn’t even the bottom of the barrel, it’s under the barrel in my honest opinion. If I had to choose between this place and a zombie knawing on my foot, I would wrap a pretty little bib around his neck and say “Bon Appetit.” Because I can’t stand this place. Which, doesn’t take away from the beauty of good things it has to offer, but personally, it’s crap.
The marketplace is full of vultures and people who don’t give a damn about their fellow man, even when people are supposed to be banding together to ensure survival. I think, in a way, the individuals who run this scam ring became even worse bastards after the Fall!
The housing conditions…AHAHAHA that’s funny. These people barely have Air Conditioning. What Hell is that? Coming from someone who was born and raised in Florida, I will tell you right now, I get ANGRY going to my window. The heat index and humidity is enough to make me want to lay down and die. Mind you, there’s some good to the heat, I just have yet to see it. Other people, who I swear would claim a solar flare was soothing, have told me how great the heat is. Without Air Conditioning, I’d rather die.
The. Rules. HOOOOLY SHIT. Some are good, like the pubic or sexual misconduct. Public fighting is expulsion, and no drug addiction. Cool. But, let’s talk about the toilet situation. I have to let my piss fester for upwards of SIX HOURS before I can flush? That, mixed with heat…..the most appetizing gurgle just ripped through my stomach. When Maddie and I are building our worlds, I have this weird habit of imagining what our characters smell or endure. Angry, festering piss…I’d rather go outside and feel my skin sizzle off. My nose would completely shrivel off and decay within seconds.
And I’m not going to start on the whole, old canned food situation. Ick.
They don’t get enough rations for the whole month. Which means the residents have to pay for extra food. People are paid for their services once a month, not nearly as much as Leon, or Quinta are paid for being Government Officials. These people make probably 100 bucks a day for their hard labor. Which sounds amazing in retrospect. $3,000, but considering the inflation that’s skyrocketed with the vultures down at the marketplace. That bowl of piss is looking like the best option for nourishment. *Gurgle Gurgle*
Don’t get me started on the Medical bay. It’s a glorified pharmacy. They’re expensive. They lack the resources. Kill me.
Our characters find the good in the sector but coming from a person who imagined and created it, they’re in a ghetto. It’s unfortunate because Jonathan (My baby) doesn’t make it any better. Unfortunately. There are more than likely worse places left (look at Miami for example.), but since this is just the beginning and the only sector we’ve really introduced thoroughly, I have nothing good to say of it. I personally would’ve left a long time ago, but then we wouldn’t a story now would we. Of course we’d never have Leon either, wait…that may be a good thing. (<--That line is for Madeline in particular for all the CRAP she said about Jonathan. “He belongs on the dark web” REALLY?! X’D)
That’s all I have to say on the matter of the sanctuary. If one can call it that.
